Neglectful mother.

I may have mentioned this incident on my blog before, but a few months ago I had a dream in which I became a mother. I was in my living room chilling out and enjoying life when I realized I’d forgotten to feed my new baby … for an entire month. I started flipping out, imagining myself in jail, and hating myself SO MUCH for being so stupid. HOW COULD I FORGET TO FEED MY KID FOR ONE WHOLE MONTH OMGOMGOMGOMG PLEASE DON’T BE DEAD!!!!!

So yeah. Basically I’ve just been living life, forgetting I have a blog, and the lesson I’ve learned from all this is I’m nowhere near ready to become a mother. I’ve got really important things to do, like compile my official (iPhone notepad) list Top 10 Kenny Chesney songs. I finally did it!!

You know what else I finally did? Made a blanket fort and watched Aliens in it. It was pretty much everything I hoped it would be. I found a friend who apparently is as cool as me, because we were joking around about it and then we actually did it!

I also bought some walking shoes for my Paris trip next week. I didn’t take a picture, but I found the same pair at Aldo in London that my sister got in Dayton. She’s wearing them in this picture:

Also, I picked out these boots from Aldo that I’ll be buying as soon as I get paid Friday. Soooooper excited.

This past weekend my dad arrived in England for business, so I took him out to my favorite pub, The Alexandra in Wimbledon, for a big meal. He got a chicken, ham and leak pie, and I got a burger. Everything at that pub is good, so it doesn’t really matter what you get.

Then I took him for a bicerin coffee at Carluccio’s. This is the espresso + cream + chocolate drink that I adore because it’s too much fun.

Next weekend my dad is spending four days in London so we’re going to do lots of stuff. I’m planning to take him to the HMS Belfast, Borough Market, Abbey Road, Churchill War Rooms, Imperial War Museum, and lots of fantastic restaurants.

Dad:

Exciting times!

  1. I’d be a terrible mother. Just ask my half-to-three-quarters-dead-houseplants. Because I have better things to do than water them. Like look at them at think, “Hey, I should water those.” And then not. That’s a really important task that I manage to do almost daily.

Love that your fam is halfway around the world but you guys still manage to see each other so often! I’m apparently pretty bad at being a daughter, too ;D

  2. I’ve been to London twice before, and I was SOOOO excited that I’d be going to London for a work tradeshow in January, until TODAY, they said I wasn’t going to London anymore, …but that I’d be going to Amsterdam for a different tradeshow…

I had major mood swings with this information, my first being:

I can’t find good visual references to my next few emotions, but I then became very excited about going back to Amsterdam, because it’s a beautiful place with interesting history, good food, and it’s small enough you can feel like you ‘know’ the place once you’ve left.

But I’ve come back round to being quite depressed about not going to London! I was going to try some of the restaurants you suggested, spend more time in Notting Hill, suggest to meet up with people I know there, including you! And so much more, though honestly, I know I wouldn’t have enough time for all the things I wanted to do.

As I write this message, I’ve most certainly come full circle, and I’m back at:

    • Sorry for taking so long to respond!! I’ve been totally absent from my blog.

Anyway! That would have been awesome to meet up!! Is there any way you could take a day trip to London? It’s very close by train! I have been thinking of going to Amsterdam, actually. Maybe I could coordinate with you!

      • No worries, I’ve been very very neglectful of my few blogs. It’s terrible, but I have some decent and some not-so-decent excuses. I’m working on an independent film, endlessly searching and test-driving cars, and spending way too much time on Facebook!

Anyway, the Tradeshow is midweek, so, to maximize my time abroad, my plan is to fly out Friday night and return a week later Sunday morning! I’d love to either meet you in London, or you meet me in Amsterdam! I’ll look into the logistics of each scenario and get back to you! It’s the last week of January, btw, so it would either be the weekend of Jan 25th or Feb 1st. :D
