I’m back in London, but I’m still dreaming of all the food I ate the past three weeks…
I’d heard so many people and blogs recommend Shake Shack so we went there first!
Manuela got a Chicago style hot dog and I got a double burger. We shared fries and each got our own unsweetened iced tea.
I’ve discovered one thing: I don’t like sweet tea! Don’t know how this happened, but sugar=no.

Definitely as good as everyone says!
After our monster meal we walked around the World Trade Center site.
Perfect sunny weather in the low 70s.
On the wall of one of the subways. Don’t remember which one!
Later that night we went to a restaurant Robin picked out in Williamsburg called Pies N Thighs. We both wanted Manuela to try Southern food and I was so glad this place was great! So much of the food we had in New York was organic or sourced from local farms. I loved all the options!
They both got fried chicken and biscuits and I had fried catfish with cornbread. We shared the sides – broccoli casserole, baked beans and a salad.
For dessert: apple pie with a slice of cheddar underneath. I have to admit I wasn’t a fan! Robin really liked it, but I don’t like apple pie to begin with so I’m not really a good judge.
One of my only regrets is that we didn’t have more time to spend in Williamsburg. It was very cool and there were tons of restaurants I wanted to try!

Love the subway mural! And I am really enjoying vicariously eating at all these restaurants! You really capture the energy of the locations and my foodie mind runs away with imaginary details on the tastes, smells and textures of the food

If only I could write with the detail you include in your food posts!

Mmm, biscuits. I can’t not love Southern food based on their existence alone.

Too bad they didn’t have spicy collards …

I’ve actually never liked Southern food… and I’m Southern. Weird, I know.
