Last day in NYC and the best sammich I ever ate.

Have you ever had a lobster roll? I genuinely felt sad when I was eating this, because after the first bite I was dreading the moment I finished it and wouldn’t have enough money ($20!) to immediately buy another one.

Big, buttery lumps of lobster on a New England bun with a pickle on the side. My English friend pointed out that much of American food is served in a basket. Then I looked at this picture … yep!

We went to Luke’s, which apparently has a few locations around the city. HIGHLY recommended! Both Manuela and I said it was the best sandwich we’ve ever had. Even at $17 for this little thing (+ $2 for chips and a soda).

Also, that dog is the biggest dog I’ve ever seen. Craziness.

We went to the location on the Upper West Side and then had drinks at a bar that had happy hour ALL DAY.

One of the highlights of the trip – seeing the Seinfeld restaurant!

Then we headed down to the Flatiron district to go to a rooftop bar I read about on Sarah’s blog.

View of the Empire State building.

The Flatiron building. Very cool! I had to change the filter on this because it was too dark, but I kinda like the way it turned out.

If you come to NYC, 230 Fifth rooftop bar is a must-see!

It was a bit windy, so they were handing out bright red robes with hoods. It made it look a bit like a scene in The Village!

I didn’t bring my Nikon, so I used Camera + on my iPhone to take these. Just added a bit of clarity + vibrance.

We stayed until the sunset, although we had only one cocktail. At $15 + per drink, we weren’t keen to drink a whole lot.

  1. I want a lobster roll~! Looks like a great day…

  2. I’ve been really wanting to go to NYC for ages and now in the last two months, two of my friends have moved there and you’ve been posting all of these amazing pictures here and on IG. At this point, I’m DYING to go to NYC! It looks like you’ve had fantastic weather and I’ve always heard that the fall is the best, so I think if I start planning now, maybe I can make it there for my bday (today!) next year! :) Hope you enjoyed your last night and safe travels back to England!

    • Everyone I know says fall is the best time to go! The weather was really nice although a couple days were a bit rainy. I’d definitely recommend a trip there – it’s a must-see! Totally different than anywhere I’ve ever been, even London. Just crazy :) And the food!!! So many amazing choices. I also thought the people were super friendly. We always had people stopping to ask if we needed to help, and tons of people would just stop and chat to us in shops or cabs or whatever.

  3. Wow! These photos are absolutely stunning.

NYC is such an amazing, unique place. Plus, the subway makes it’s so easy to see. I’m glad to hear that you’re having a great time :)

  4. Wait ’til you visit Maine and get a lobster roll, THEN you’ll have had the best sandwich ever :D

    • This is upsetting, because I went to Maine in 2008 and didn’t try a whole lot because I thought I hated seafood. Now I’m full of regret. I remember one place we went my family got lobster rolls and I’m pretty sure I got a tuna sandwich.
