I get so excited about vacations that I even take the time to research what restaurants are in the terminal of my layover. I’ve noticed recently that airports are increasingly adding trendier or local restaurants into terminals rather than the standard chains you used to find, so it’s kind of a vacation in itself!
I’m speaking strictly of US airports, of course. Heathrow and Gatwick are so consistently bad with food and service that they really deserve some kind of award. It’s hard to be that consistent with anything, but they manage!
In exactly two months I’ll be heading off on my USA vacation, so in my mind it’s practically here. I can’t wait, and I’m now thinking about it most hours of each day. I probably should have started saving money before now, but you know how it goes.
Does it count as being frugal if your goal is to save money by simply cutting out the eating out?
Every night when I get home I make my breakfast and lunch to take to work the next day. Most times I have to actually prepare three meals for the work day or I get too hungry and end up buying something crappy that I could have made better and cheaper at home.
Today’s breakfast was a three egg cheese omelette with a little oat milk stirred in to make it fluffier. I filled it with a small amount of extra mature cheddar, because you can use far less for the same taste, then added the chopped peppers, salt and Tabasco.
These two little lovers look innocent, but they were so spicy I couldn’t even taste the cheddar!
It didn’t help that I also put a rather large amount of Tabasco in the omelet. Tabasco has it’s place, but it’s not in an omelet. I’m a Frank’s Red Hot fan through and through, so I’m not sure why I used Tabasco over Frank’s!
Still a tasty breakfast. I can’t get enough of spicy food.
After looking at these pictures I realized I need to iron my place mat, but the problem is that somehow ants have gotten into the little water spray thing. So, if you accidentally press it ants shoot out everywhere and get ironed into your material before you know what’s happened. Oh my god, it’s so gross. That’s appropriate material for a food blog, right? We don’t have an ant problem, so I don’t know how this has happened. I’d buy a new iron, but I’m livin’ frugal, remember?

Plus an ant-filled iron makes for a great excuse not to iron. Eating in totally counts as being frugal–food out adds up FAST. Although I justify it by saying if I eat at Panera’s enough or get enough Starbuck’s drinks…they eventually give me free stuff. That balances out, right?

I say the same thing! I see it as a “waste” if I drink coffee from somewhere that doesn’t have a loyalty card … all because of a £2 free drink after I’ve already purchased like 15. It’s so ridiculous, but it absolutely works.
