I had an out of body experience last night.
I went to Meat Liquor with my ‘merican friend (known from here on out as “Captain America”) and ordered fried pickles, my favorite snack in the whole entire wide world ever.
Fried pickles - in London!
Meat Liquor is a restaurant on a quiet street just behind Oxford Street. You’d never know it was there, but it’s so popular that if you don’t get there early you’ll be waiting in an impossibly long line. We got there about 6:30 p.m. and had to wait only five minutes, but these unlucky losers were probably waiting at least an hour, as there aren’t many tables inside. Also, this is as central London as it gets, so the service is slooooowww.
These are officially the worst pictures to ever appear on my blog, but it was rainy and so dark in there!
The inside was a bit scary and kind of reminded me of the movie “Saw.”
The menu wasn’t too extensive or expensive, but it had all the right stuff. Burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, chicken wings, and of course, fried pickles!
Captain America said he’s been searching for proper American-style buffalo wings all over London and had never found them until last night. He said they were so good he wanted to take them home and preserve them in a glass case.
They brought the food out on a big ol’ tray. No plates, just food. This is where the out of body experience happened. PICKLES. It doesn’t really matter that this picture is crap, because this is something you have to experience for yourself. A picture won’t do.
Two cheesesteaks (which the Captain said were totally authentic), fried pickles, amazing skinny fries covered in cheese and teeny onions, bleu cheese dips and chicken wings.
I also had a cocktail called “Time of the Month,” which was really great, but I felt it was too small to warrant the £7 price. They also serve beer in cans, so you can really get your hick on.
I urge you to go to Meat Liquor. Right now.

YES, YES, YES!!!! All I remember from my visit there was smeared mayo and ketchup all over my face and I was sooooooo happy. The green chile burger was super tasty and juicy. MY WORD.
Let’s go!!!

I ALMOST got that!! But at the last minute decided on the cheesesteak. Have you tried that? Yes let’s definitely go! Do you think we’d have to wait in line if we went for an early dinner like on a Saturday?

I don’t know. I bet a 2/3 o’clock lunch could be safe? Maybe?

Well, that’s definitely some odd decor for an eatery, but if they have good fried pickles, I don’t care if I’m eating under naked bloody death boobs.

Or bloody death pig. That was scarier!

Maybe they’re trying to say they want to stay open 24 hours a day … which they totally should! Have you been??
